Feeding Our Families,
Rebuilding Our Strength
M

ore than once, I have felt completely depleted. I love being a wife, momma, farmer, and business owner, but there are times when the exhaustion goes beyond what rest alone can solve. I’m giving constantly, juggling everything, and eventually I have to pause and reflect on what’s missing. Amid life’s busyness, it’s easy to fill our days with convenient snacks and sweets instead of solid meals. Time and again, I’m reminded that I need to refocus by nourishing my body and my family through intentional movement, consistent sleep, and, most importantly, food.

Food either supports us as we care for our families and steward our callings, or it quietly drains us. This realization didn’t lead me to perfection or rigid rules. Instead, it led me to intentionality, grace and a renewed understanding of nourishment as an act of love.

Strength Starts
At the Table
Strength is often tied to endurance and the ability to keep going, to remain steady, and to show up well day after day. A large part of our mental, spiritual, and physical strength relies on how we support our bodies. As tired moms, we are lifting little bodies, managing homes, teaching lessons, running businesses, and holding emotional space for our families. Our bodies need real nourishment to do that well.

Highly processed foods may taste good and fill our stomachs, but they rarely build strength. Over time, they can contribute to blood sugar crashes, inflammation, hormonal imbalance, weight gain, and a cycle of exhaustion. On the other hand, whole, thoughtfully-sourced foods provide the building blocks our bodies need, give us steady energy, and help us focus and manage stress.

This doesn’t mean every meal needs to be Pinterest-perfect or homemade from scratch. It means choosing foods that support our bodies and help us maintain steady energy and balance.

My Journey Toward
Better Choices
My journey toward organic living began almost twenty years ago when my best friend, Kortney, started pointing out ingredient lists. I had never even heard the words “high fructose corn syrup”. I still remember standing in grocery store aisles, slowly realizing that many of the foods and personal care products I trusted were filled with things I couldn’t even pronounce.

Improving our diet didn’t happen overnight. It began with small changes, swapping one ingredient at a time. I started learning where our food came from and asking better questions. Eventually, that passion grew into what is now Rosy Hill Organics, our regenerative farm and organic personal care company. My desire is to care for my family and community with utmost integrity, care, and love.

How Food Supports
Growing Strength
Here are a few key ways nourishing food helps us grow stronger:
1. Stable energy instead of crashes
Meals built around protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates help keep blood sugar steady. This means fewer mid-afternoon meltdowns (for both moms and kids) and more consistent energy.
2. Better stress resilience
Our bodies require vitamins and minerals, plus healthy fats, to respond well to stress. If we are depleted nutritionally, even small challenges can feel overwhelming.
3. Clearheadedness and patience
Brain fog and irritability are often a result of what we’re eating. Nutritious foods boost brain power, which matters deeply when we’re homeschooling, managing schedules, and making constant decisions.
4. Long-term health and great energy
Strength isn’t just about having enough for today, but being able to show up well for years to come. Choosing real food is also an investment in our future health.
How Azure Standard
Supports Our Family
One of the most practical ways we’ve stayed consistent with better food choices is through Azure Standard. Having access to high-quality food has been essential not only for our nourishment but also for our budget.

We use Azure Standard for organic grains, beans, baking supplies, oils, fresh and frozen produce, snacks, and pantry staples. Azure Standard not only saves us money with a variety of product sizes, including bulk, but also reduces last-minute or even weekly grocery trips—something every mom can appreciate! When nourishing ingredients are already in the pantry, better choices become easier choices.

Additionally, Azure Standard has a high product turnover rate, meaning the items they stock are constantly moving rather than sitting on shelves for long periods of time. This allows us to access fresher products with higher nutrient integrity, especially staples like grains, flours, oils, and pantry items. Fresher food not only supports our bodies better, but it also reduces waste, both in our kitchen and in the broader food system, because ingredients are used while they’re still at their best.

Azure Standard has also helped us be more intentional teachers. When my child helps unpack a drop order or scoops grains into jars, it opens natural conversations about where food comes from as well as stewardship and gratitude.

Nourishment & Homeschooling
Go Hand in Hand
Homeschooling requires patience, focus, and emotional presence. I’ve noticed a clear difference in our homeschool days when we start with a protein-rich breakfast and balanced meals. There are fewer energy dips, more attentiveness, and a calmer atmosphere overall.

Homeschooling goes “beyond the books,” and food becomes part of the lesson. Measuring ingredients turns into math practice. Baking teaches patience and process. Talking about farming, soil, and seasons becomes science and stewardship woven together.

When our bodies are nourished, learning flows more naturally.
Practical Steps
For Tired Moms
I know how overwhelming this can feel. If you’re tired, burned out, or discouraged, here are a few gentle steps that truly make a difference:
1. Start with breakfast
Aim for protein and fiber to break your fast. Eggs, yogurt, organic oatmeal, or even leftovers can dramatically improve energy for the rest of the day. I enjoy a yogurt parfait with whole-milk plain yogurt, peanut butter, honey, cinnamon, and raw oats topped with frozen berries every morning.
2. Simplify, don’t complicate
You don’t need elaborate meals. A protein, a fat, and a fiber source are enough. We love grass-fed hamburgers, homefries cooked in lard, and steamed frozen broccoli.
3. Stock your kitchen
Use Azure Standard to keep nourishing staples on hand. When your pantry, fridge, and freezer support your goals, decision fatigue decreases.
4. Give yourself grace
This is not about perfection. Some days will still include quick meals and convenience foods, and that’s okay. Progress matters while building consistency. We love Stacy’s tortillas and Sierra Nevada Raw cheddar cheese for a quick taco night!
5. Invite your children into the process
Even small helpers can wash produce, stir batter, or help plan meals. This builds skills, connection, and appreciation for real food.
An Act
Of Love
Preparing nourishing food is not a small thing. Every meal is an opportunity to care for the bodies God entrusted to us, including our own. The healthy food choices we make are important and a wonderful learning tool for our children as they move into adulthood and, possibly, parenthood one day.

Strength doesn’t come from willpower alone. It grows when we choose foods that support our bodies, create rhythms that sustain us, and extend grace when we fall short.

If you’re a tired mom reading this, know this: you don’t have to do everything at once. One small change or one better choice can begin to restore strength in ways you may not even realize yet.

From our table to yours, may your meals be nourishing, your days steadier, and your strength renewed.
